About Us

The Homelabber was established by Blag and James in 2023.

Originally starting as colleagues, their friendship developed over a shared passion for technology, in particular, homelabs. By day Blag is a DevOps Engineer and James is a Software Developer. By night both don their SysAdmin caps tinkering away at the endless labour of love that is the homelab.

Our goal is to create a place to distill our thoughts and experiences through blogs posts and guides.

The Homelabber aims to take the knowledge and experience we have built through work, experimentation, forums, patchy documentation, and to share it with our readers and the greater homelab community.

    Blag

Blag is a Site Reliability Engineer by day and a homelabber by night.

My homelab's beginnings trace back to running a HTPC to manage my music and video libraries.

That took the form of my second Hackintosh running iTunes, Emby, and MacOS Server (back when it still worked).

I'm James, a full time developer, part time tinkerer 🛠️

I started homelabbing a few years ago with a Synology and Raspberry Pi, from there it's snowballed into a dedicated Unraid server, a bunch of Unifi gear and a rather sorry looking wallet.
